Information Proxi collects

• Account information such as email address, display name, Sign in with Apple account details when used, and internal account identifier.
• Profile information such as an optional profile picture chosen from the user’s photo library.
• Device delivery information such as a push notification token when notification permission is granted.
• Location information such as precise device location when tracking is enabled and derived exact or approximate nearby-visibility records needed for app functionality.
• App settings and relationship data such as tracking preferences, sharing preferences, precision mode, visibility radius, private zones, friend requests, blocks, and friendships.

How Proxi uses information

• Authenticate accounts, support password reset emails, and keep users signed in securely.
• Create and maintain profiles, profile pictures, friend codes, and friend relationships.
• Compute anonymous nearby alerts and user-approved nearby visibility based on mutual friendship and privacy settings.
• Deliver nearby-friend notifications when the relevant permissions and product settings are enabled.
• Store user preferences for tracking, sharing, visibility radius, precision, private zones, blocks, and per-friend visibility.
• Support account deletion, abuse prevention, security checks, and operational reliability.

Proxi does not sell personal data and does not use collected data for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.

Location and sharing behavior

• Location monitoring starts only after the user explicitly allows tracking on that device.
• Tracking can be turned off inside the app at any time.
• Users can disable sharing availability, adjust their default visibility radius, switch sharing precision, or block specific friends from receiving their shared location.
• If a user configures private zones, Proxi suppresses their visibility while they are inside an enabled zone.
• Background location is used only so anonymous nearby alerts can continue working after the user has chosen to enable tracking and granted the required OS permission.
• When friends are nearby, Proxi does not reveal which friend is nearby until that friend chooses to share their location.

Notifications

If notification permission is granted, Proxi may send nearby-friend notifications. To do that, Proxi stores a device push token for the user’s device.

Data sharing

Proxi shares derived nearby visibility only with approved friends, only after the subject user chooses to share for a nearby event, and only according to the subject user’s privacy settings. Proxi is not a data broker and does not sell personal data.

Profile pictures are shown only to the account owner and approved friends who are allowed to view that profile in Proxi.

Proxi uses service providers such as Supabase for authentication, database, and backend functions; Expo for push-notification delivery; and Apple when a user chooses Sign in with Apple.

Data retention

Proxi keeps account, profile picture, friendship, settings, and active app-functionality data while an account exists. Short-lived location-derived visibility data is updated as part of normal app operation. When a user deletes their account, Proxi is designed to remove the account and related application data associated with that user from this project.

Your choices

• Turn tracking on or off in Settings.
• Turn nearby sharing availability on or off.
• Choose or update your profile picture.
• Change who can see you and at what precision or distance.
• Request a password reset email from the sign-in screen.
• Delete your account from within the app.
• Contact support with privacy questions or account concerns.
